In 1960 a number of Uxbridge area curlers, who had been curling in Sunderland, decided that Uxbridge should have a curling club of its own. To that end, Harvey Acton, Murray Taylor, and Earl Harman held the first of many meetings in the Fire Hall, and 40 to 60 people attended. Committees were formed to look into a site for the building and to raise money for the Building Fund. During the summer of 1960 the incorporation of the Uxbridge & District Curling Club became official, by-laws were adopted, and debentures were sold for $50.00 each at 6% interest, payable annually.
On August 4, 1960, the footings were poured for the basement and on November 19, 1960, the Club opened its doors to over 180 members. The cost of the building and the Club had been $89,000. The members of the Club are proud of the number of Ontario championships won by its curlers over the years.
During the 1984-85 curling season, the Club celebrated its 25th Anniversary. That occasion was marked by renovating and refurnishing the lounge.
In the summer of 2010 an ambitious renovation of both the downstairs and upstairs of the Club was completed with the help of the Recreation Infrastructure Canada (RINC) fund. The costs are divided equally between Federal and Provincial governments and the Club.
